CARLOS CAZAÑA, BORN IN 1970

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Carlos Cazaña (Madrid, 1970) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose career spans more than four decades of creative exploration across art, design, and visual experimentation.

His artistic journey began in 1985, when he enrolled at the Madrid School of Art, studying disciplines such as drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and screen printing. At the same time, he became involved in Madrid’s emerging graffiti scene, participating in some of its earliest artistic expressions.

In 1988, he participated in Crime Artists, the first Graffiti Art exhibition in Spain, held at Galería Ynguanzo in Madrid and considered a pioneering event in the history of Spanish urban art. During this period, he established connections with the international art scene through collaborations and creative experiences in Paris.

In the early 1990s, he began incorporating emerging digital technologies into his creative process, working as a freelance creative across multiple disciplines, including visual design, motion graphics, 3D, Digital film, interior design, fashion, and music.

Alongside his professional career, he has maintained a continuous personal artistic practice, exploring different techniques, materials, and visual languages outside the traditional exhibition circuit.

In 2025, after decades of independent artistic experimentation, he decided to bring his work back into the public eye through SHAPES, a contemporary art project focused on geometric abstraction, color, and modularity.

SHAPES introduces a visual language built on geometric compositions, precise lines, flat planes of color, and structures that extend beyond the physical boundaries of the artwork. Each piece is conceived as an autonomous work, without a predetermined orientation, capable of connecting with others to create new compositions on a larger scale.

The project represents the convergence of more than four decades of artistic and creative experience, exploring new relationships between art, design, geometry, and space.
